Talking Heads | Stop Making Sense Poster

Freedom!  Freedom!  Happy Independence Day to all and to all a good day.  Thank you for visiting Dinca Blog.  Below we have a fantastic silk-screened poster — designed and printed by Will Thomas — for the Talking Heads documentary Stop Making Sense.  I suggest adding this doc to your Facets and Netflix queues.

Dinca Fun Fact: Talking Heads frontman, David Byrne, aspired to be a filmmaker before he formed the Talking Heads.  He did go on to work with film, directing the 1986 kooky narrative True Stories.  The late Bruce Connor, an experimental filmmaker and culture-jammer, used a song by David Byrne and Brian Eno in his 1982 experimental short, America is Waiting, and Byrne also collaborated with Ryuichi Sakamoto and Cong Su to make music for Bernardo Bertolucci’s 1987 The Last Emporer, which won nine Academy Awards.  Watch an interview w/ Byrne on The Last Emporer.

Dinca Blog previously posted Will’s Blue Velvet poster and Surreal Film Festival poster + more.  And you haven’t seen it yet, below is the original trailer for Stop Making Sense, followed by two video clips from the film featuring The Talking Heads performing “Swap” and “Once in a Lifetime.”
